Dr. Brandon Nicholson was born and raised in Greenville, NC. He graduated from East Carolina University in 2001 with a B.S. degree in biology. He then went on to receive his dental training from the UNC Chapel Hill School of Dentistry where he graduated in 2005. He joined Kinston Dental Associates in 2006 as a partner and became sole owner in 2014. He is married to his beautiful wife Carrie, and they have 3 wonderful children named Tanner, Stokes, and Emmaline. Together they also have a miniature labradoodle named Rubble and an Aussie doodle named Marley that keeps them all entertained. Dr. Nicholson is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), the North Carolina Dental Society (NCDS), the Lenoir County Dental Association (LCDA), and the Center for Neural Occlusion (CNO). He regularly attends continuing education meetings to stay on top of all the new advances in dental medicine. Dr. Nicholson truly makes it his mission to provide the best dental care in a comfortable, family-friendly environment. Outside of dentistry, Dr. Nicholson enjoys spending quality time with his family, traveling, serving at his church, and playing golf. He also enjoys writing devotion books and is a published author of several devotionals.

Dr. Sammi Wood is a dedicated general dentist at Kinston Dental Associates, where she combines her passion for oral health with a commitment to serving her community. She obtained her biology degree from the University of Florida before matriculating at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA. Growing up in a military family, Dr. Wood has a deep appreciation for the sacrifices made by service members. This background fuels her passion for caring for VA patients, and she takes pride in providing exceptional dental care to those who have dedicated their lives to serving our country. She resides in Greenville with her husband, who is a cardiology fellow at ECU. They love going on adventures with their puppy, Tebow. When she’s not in the office, she enjoys playing pickleball, diving into a good book, spending time outside and exploring new travel destinations.

Krysta joined Kinston Dental Associates in July 2015. Krysta is a Registered Dental Hygienist and graduated from Wayne Community College. Krysta loves working at KDA because everyone works together as a team. She appreciates the fact that Dr. Nicholson is very understanding and supportive of family commitments. The people and patients are very kind and appreciative of her work, which makes them feel relaxed while she gives them a brighter smile. Krysta is married and has one child, Sophia. In her free time, Krysta enjoys spending time with her family, fishing, boat riding, going to the beach, and hiking.

Melissa graduated from the dental hygiene program at Wayne Community College in 2014. She began her career at Kinston Dental in 2017. Melissa is married and has 2 children, Charlie and Fields. Melissa enjoys educating her patients about their dental health, while being able to spend time talking with them and learning more about their lives. In her spare time, she enjoys going to the beach and spending time with her husband and children.

Kasey is a certified dental assistant and has been with KDA since July 2016. While Kasey is a full time dental assistant, she continues to keep her credentials as a cosmetologist as well. On her days off she sees clients at her salon. Having the opportunity to be a part of improving our patient’s smile has been so rewarding. Kasey loves KDA because of its family oriented practice where patients become friends and coworkers become family. Kasey is married and has two children.

Sarah graduated from Wayne Community College in July 2022. Sarah joined the KDA team May 2023. Sarah has a positive outlook and has truly enjoyed every single day of work since the day she started. Sarah did a clinical rotation with our office while in school, and immediately knew this was the practice she wanted to join. Sarah fell in love with KDA because of the close family oriented work environment. What brings her the most joy is the fact that what may seem like such a small task for us can truly change someone’s life. That is what keeps her motivated to keep her working everyday. Sarah and her husband are expecting their first child in 2025.

Fern began her career at Kinston Dental in 1973. For over 50 years one of the best qualities of Kinston Dental is how great the patients and staff all work together to build a family atmosphere. She has been able to meet and become friends with so many patients throughout the years at KDA. Fern’s greatest works are her three children and three grandchildren. When Fern is not working, she loves spending time with her family at the River and gardening. Fern is thankful for everyday she gets to spend on the water at the river.

Christen started working at Kinston Dental in May of 2022 as our treatment coordinator. Prior to joining our team she had 20 years of experience in the dental profession. Christen does a variety of tasks every day, from scheduling appointments to verifying and working with insurance companies. Christen excels in multitasking and has evolved into a cross-trained employee. Christen is married, has one child and lots of fur babies. Outside of taking care of her family and animals, she enjoys crafting and reading. To Christen, the most rewarding aspect of working at KDA is helping our patients fall in love with their smile again and being able to work with a great team everyday.
